This week’s guest is Limon. He is a Los Angeles based poker pro and one of the hosts of Live at The Bike. You can find that show at liveatthebike.com. This show was a bit unusual in that while we were recording this for Gambling With an Edge, we were broadcasting live to Limon’s audience at liveatthebike.com. We did have some calls at the end of the show that were not included, mainly because Limon hung up on most of the callers for inane questions.

The EV of Bob’s gig at SLS can be estimated as the average result of Bob in 100 parallel universes. Maybe:
40 Bob will win the Jackpot early + no mailer.
30 Bob will win jackpot near expectation + some comp/mailers until jackpot win
15 Bob will win jackpot very late so VP result is below expectation + many more mailers
15 Bob will not win jackpot and the game is eventually cancelled due to other APs. + many more mailers
EV per hour can be estimated as average win divided by average number of hours played until game removal.
Quadrupling down in Blackjack seems like cheating to me. Essentially the player is capping their bet and then doubling down. It would take some balls to pull off such a move in the casino. It was also interesting to hear Limon compare tournament poker to fools gold and chasing the lottery.
I’m glad that the hosts and the guest talked about marijuana and the gaming industry. Perhaps the casino industry should accommodate these people by opening up “coffee shops” in the casinos so these people may be at ease while on casino property instead of feeling like they are being discriminated against. Just like Amsterdam has “coffee shops.” I personally think marijuana and poker go hand-in-hand. It helps to put my mind & body at ease when I play poker. The more potent the marijuana is, the better. It makes the game more exciting. Every time I play poker I’m under the influence of Mary Jane to where I’ve just literally laid it down before hitting the table. On the other hand, alcohol or being drunk at the table is bad for poker playing.
