The guest this week is Mike Sexton. Mike is a longtime poker pro, and the cohost of the World Poker Tour. Mike has a new book out called Life’s a Gamble which we discuss, as well as how he lost $500,000,000 at Party Poker.

At the beginning of the show, you discuss a player who is trying to use variance as his friend. Since our hero hasn’t hit Quad Deuces for 15,000 hands, he should be ‘due’, so he’s going to play negative EV Video Poker games that pay more than FPDW for those Quad Deuces.
It reminded me of The Simpsons episode where Krusty the Clown was asked why he bet all his money AGAINST the Harlem Globetrotters.
“I thought the Generals were due!”
I decided to help Mike out financially and purchased his book. Got it one audible.com. We really enjoyed it and it made our trip shorter. Get him on the show again.

That is funny. I’ve mentioned on the show before that it is really interesting the difference between roulette players and baccarat players. In baccarat the “trend is your friend” so if they see 3 players bets win in a row people jump on player. But in roulette if they see red 3 times in a row they bet on black because it is due.
Am listening to the audio version, and Mike does a decent job of narrating his own story.
His voice really sparkles, when he talks about gambling .. and it makes a change, to listen to someone,
who has the T-shirt.
Hes a fantastic ambassador .. for the life .. and its interesting how many of these super-heroes, were advanced level athletes.
Thx for writing.
I enjoyed hearing Mike in this interview. I think he has a good point on how the ME for the WSOP should be concluded about 2 days after the final 9 players are set instead of waiting for months until a winner gets declared.
